Real Projects, Real Growth

Our students don't just learn theory. They build actual capital budgeting analyses for businesses across Australia, working with real financial data and making decisions that matter.

Where Are They Now?

We tracked down some of our students from 2022 and 2023 cohorts. Turns out, learning capital budgeting properly opens doors you didn't know existed.

From Classroom to Corporate Finance

Started with us in March 2022. Her final project involved analyzing equipment replacement for a manufacturing client. Now she's running budget forecasts for a mid-sized firm in Melbourne.

What helped most? She says it was learning to explain NPV calculations to people who hate spreadsheets.

Building Better Business Cases

Joined our August 2023 intake after working in operations for years. Her capstone project evaluated expansion options for a retail chain using payback and IRR methods.

She still uses the templates from class. And yes, she's been promoted twice since finishing the program.

Making Smarter Investments

Completed our program in November 2023. His project focused on renewable energy investment analysis for agricultural properties. The skills translated directly to his family business.

He recently told us he avoided a costly equipment purchase because the numbers just didn't support it. That's what we like to hear.

What You'll Actually Build

Project One: Cash Flow Modeling

Month two, you'll construct a five-year cash flow projection for a real business scenario. This includes working capital changes, depreciation schedules, and tax implications.

Project Two: Investment Comparison

By month four, you'll evaluate competing capital projects using multiple decision criteria. You'll learn why different metrics sometimes tell different stories.

Capstone: Strategic Analysis

Final two months involve a comprehensive business case. You'll present findings to industry professionals who'll ask the tough questions you need to answer.

Skills That Transfer

  • Financial statement analysis that goes beyond the basics
  • Risk assessment using scenario and sensitivity analysis
  • Excel modeling that doesn't break when someone changes an input
  • Cost of capital calculations for different capital structures
  • Presenting financial recommendations to non-financial audiences
  • Understanding when to use NPV versus IRR versus payback
  • Building business cases that actually convince decision-makers
  • Spotting flawed assumptions in investment proposals

Current Student Work

Our September 2025 cohort is midway through their projects. Here's what they're tackling right now. These aren't hypothetical exercises—each project connects to actual business decisions.

Warehouse Automation Investment

A logistics company needs to decide between automated sorting systems versus manual processes. The initial outlay is substantial, but labor savings could be significant. Students are modeling ten-year projections with different volume scenarios.

The tricky part? Estimating maintenance costs and technology obsolescence. Real-world budgeting means dealing with uncertainty.
